Tinseltown: Michael Jackson

The legendary King of Pop, Michael Joseph Jackson has departed on June 25, 2009. His sudden death at his home in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles, California was a shock to everyone after reports form the media. According to the Los Angeles County Coroner's office, his cause of death was having suffered from cardiac arrest. Jackson was planned for a concert entitled “This Is It” in London which had to be cancelled due to his death.

Nevertheless, Jackson’s memorial service was held at
the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Michael Jackson was buried with his trademark white glove, pearl beads, a large gold belt, and sunglasses. In the end, somebody has to go too.

Here is a poem dedicated to you Michael.

Past, Present and Future

Those days when you were still around,
I remember the songs you sung are sound.
It is still a big hit till now,
When Jackson 5 came to town.

But now you're gone and I am down,
It's a voice from the morgue in the background.
Into the ocean I am drowned,
I hope I can reincarnate into a clown,
Where I can be somebody else.

We will always remember you,
And yes we do.
Rest in peace Michael,
We love you.

Movie Failure: Snakes on a Plane

If your peers ask you about a movie that you just watched and it sucked badly, I am sure you can spend the whole day condemning about the movie. Today, I shall share with you a little critic on Snakes on a Plane. Firstly, it is not a bad movie after all, but just ridiculous. I mean, why are there snakes on the plane? Secondly, why did Snakes on a Plane failed to make big box office? It just raises so many questions.

So, why are there snakes on the plane? It is basically a set up to kill Sean Jones (Nathan Phillips), who accidentally witnessed a murder of an attorney by Eddie Kim (Byron Lawson) while he was on a joy ride on his dirt bike. So Jones was heading to L.A. to testify at Kim's trial. Pretty smart way to kill someone I guess.

What was the main reason Snakes on a Plane did not hit the box office? New Line failed to come up with a good marketing campaign. This movie was intended to be called Pacific Air Flight 121, but instead, they came up with a silly title. The significant thing about the title is those venomous snakes. Probably New Line had no idea how to market this movie, but they thought they knew. Sadly, this summer blockbuster film did not make its way to the box office.

Since the snakes are so significant, a dude unzips to pee and gets his asset blown by a copperhead; a half-naked chick going for 10,000 feet above-ground flight gets a snake bite at her chocolate chip. A nippy little Chihuahua gets eaten by a viper, while a nasty Brit who hates dogs is swallowed by a python. In the end, it was fun to talk about and had everyone laughing about.

Another thing on this movie is that there is just too much profanity. Samuel Jackson, says "mother*****n'" countless times as the film's cop hero. To summarize this movie, its about mother*****n' snakes on a mother*****n' plane.

Tinseltown: Jennifer's Body

Jennifer's Body is a dark comedy and horror film written by Diablo Cody. The film is directed by Karyn Kusama, and stars Megan Fox as the title character, Amanda Seyfried as her best friend Needy, and Adam Brody as the antagonist Nikolai. It is scheduled for theatrical release in the United States.

Jennifer Check (Megan Fox) is the sexy, popular captain of the high school cheerleading squad. All of the girls want to be friends with her, and all of the boys want to have sex with her. Jennifer's friend since childhood, Anita "Needy" Lesnicky (Amanda Seyfried), is a nerdy, substantially less popular, "plain jane" student. Jennifer ends up as the sacrifice in a Satanic ritual, held by a rock band, hoping that the sacrifice will increase their chances of getting a record deal. The ritual goes horribly wrong, causing Jennifer to get possessed by a demon and start feeding off of the boys in her high school; First seducing them to get close, and then consuming them in a manner similar to that of a Succubus. It becomes Needy's goal to stop Jennifer from killing more of her classmates.

Demon possession, devilish cheerleaders, and Satanic rock stars are all on the chopping block with this horror comedy from the production team behind Juno. Screenwriter Diablo Cody provides the script, with producing duties handled by Jason Reitman and Dan Dubiecki. Girlfight's Karyn Kusama directs the Fox Atomic production. [D-Man2010]

New from Tinseltown: David Letterman

According to E!Online (Entertainment news online), “Late Show” host David Letterman has admitted to having affairs with women on his staff and says someone at CBS has been trying to blackmail him.

After I saw this news, I was wondering what is going on in the world of entertainment? Even David Letterman, who is 62 this year, is still involved in the cases of having affairs with female employees and has eventually been blackmailed by a CBS newsman.

Now, what I wanted to know is how many women are involved with Letterman.

Famous Director: Timothy Burton

Timothy Burton is a Famous Hollywood Film director, producer and writer. Burton is famous for his very own style in shooting a film. He has created some of the most outstanding dark, strange, and stimulating creative visions in filmmaking history.

In a Tim Burton film, there is always a dark side and a “good” side and the contrast between both sides is very clear.

Not everyone can accept Tim Burton’s films because sometimes in his films, the dark side not necessarily evil and bad, and the so call “good” side is actually not that good. You can see this in one of his famous film, “The Nightmare before Christmas”, in which Jack is from the “Dark” side but what he wants to do doesn’t mean to be bad. Jack and Santa want achieve the same thing, which is give all the children a happy Merry Christmas, but the way Jack thinks is good does not accepted by ordinary people.

Tim Burton has produced an outstanding amount of films that brings up many question, for example, is
Burton one of these people? Could he just be an average, if off-centre, filmmaker who has managed to convince everyone he is great, or is he the brilliant visual artist who uses his talents to create great movies?

Love him or loath him, Burton is a director who has made an impact both in the industry and on the cinema-goers and whose films, so special in their childlike reverie and cathartic blend of horror and black humour, warrant his inclusion amongst the great visual filmmakers of past and present.

So who is up to watch A Serious Man?

The synopsis accompanied with the trailer:
A black comedy set in 1967 and centered on Larry Gopnik, a Midwestern professor who watches his life unravel when his wife prepares to leave him because his inept brother won't move out of the house.

A Serious Man is both written and directed by the brilliant Oscar winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen, of Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, Miller's Crossing, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, O Brother Where Art Thou?, No Country for Old Men, and Burn After Reading. This was shot last year in Minnesota after they finished Burn After Reading.

News from Tinseltown: Angelina Jolie

According to Metro News, Angelina Jolie says she’s too busy to star in another film with partner Brad Pitt.

She said: “I’d love to work with him but we have a lot of kids.” Jolie says being parents to Maddox, eight, Pax, five, Zahara, four, Shiloh, three, and 15-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne is hard work as she and Pitt try and make sure all their kids are happy and fulfilled.

I felt weird when I heard about this news. I wonder why does Angelina says that she is too busy to star in another movie with Brad, her husband. Isn’t it good that they get to see each other more often or they decided that they need some space? What happened to Brangelina??!!
